4th How to make fun transitions on TikTok

TikTok has built-in transitions that allow you to visually connect one clip or scene to another during the editing phase.

But TikTok is also full of people who have come up with creative visual tricks to fuse videos together: the “snapshot”, the “cover the camera” and so on. It’s easier than it looks!

The trick to this is to Record clips that start where the other left off.

  1. Record the first part of your video and end with that “transition moment” – for example, the snapshot or the palm of your hand covering the camera.
  2. Remember where you ended your video: this is where you want to start your next clip.
  3. Make the change you want … maybe a new location or a new outfit?
  4. Record another clip Starting from where you left off: Hands in the twinkling of an eye or palm that covers the lens.
  5. Press the check mark to go to the edit screen.
  6. Here you can trim your clips to further align them if necessary.

Pro type: You may also want to use the timer and a tripod or ring light so you can record hands-free.

5. How to add subtitles

Not only is adding subtitles a great way to capture your audience, who may be watching with the sound turned off, but it also makes your content accessible to people with hearing impairments.

  1. On the editing screen, tap text at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Adjust the font, alignment, color, and style and drag them to where you want them on the screen.
  3. Tap the text and an option will appear Set duration.
  4. Tap Set duration and then choose when and how long you want it to appear.

Pro Tip: There are a few third-party options that can be used to auto-generate subtitles, but we like Instagram threads. Of course, you’ll have to use them on Instagram first and then upload them to TikTok again.

6. How to make text appear and disappear in time

Read the steps for adding labels above and use the Set duration Feature that shows and hides text fields in your video at exactly the right time.

This is a popular trick used by TikTok users who do what they just point and words appear and they nod. (What is this? What do we call this?)
