I wrestled with the violence, hatred, and pain of the horrific Atlanta shootings in March, which were particularly close to my home as they were a mile from where I used to live. Some days it’s hard to see if we’re ever really seen as part of this land. Take Daniel Dae Kim’s testimony before Congress, where he told a story about a pollster who claimed that AAPI voters were not counted “because Asian Americans are considered statistically insignificant”. For too long we’ve been relegated as an invisible minority, which in short, as Kim bluntly put it, means we don’t matter.
