Facebook launched the on-platform component of its Season of Giving initiative with the release of four videos on Monday.

The social campaign was developed by the internal media team Facebook Creative X and runs until December 21st.

The social network said the goal of the campaign was to show that donations don't cost a lot and that everyone has something to give, and shared details on two of the four new videos:

  • Brennon Jones, Haircut4Homeless: Brennon Jones, a Philadelphia barber and philanthropist, knew that homeless numbers can make a difference on a person. He decided to do the best he could – give men haircuts and makeovers to change the way they see themselves. A few years later and hundreds of haircuts later, Brennon not only gives homeless people free haircuts, he gives them a fresh start. Brennon uses Facebook and Instagram to share his stories with his community. He also uses Facebook to promote his $ 2 on Tuesday campaign, in which followers donate $ 2 to fund his initiative.
  • Holly Christensen and Bree Taylor, The Magic Yarn Project: Holly and Bree began making princess yarn wigs to add some magic to young girls battling cancer and to make them believe. What started as a small gesture for a few girls has grown into a massive movement that touches tens of thousands of families – all driven by volunteers who donate their talents to make wigs for young girls and boys. Facebook and Instagram are the main social media platforms where they communicate with volunteers and share stories from children who are given wigs. Facebook posts are critical to donating consumables. Virtual workshops are held on Facebook Live where people across the country learn how to make wigs. They also connect strongly through Facebook craft and crochet groups.
