Gucci's Christmas advert turns graciously retro concerning the lacking custom of 2020: the workplace occasion

Gucci has taken full advantage of workplace nostalgia for its 2020 vacation campaign – in a year when very few people are likely to have a Christmas party in the office and even long for the water cooler chats that they take for granted.

While you may have dreaded the hangover of a midweek office party, this year you will likely look back at those awkward festive moments wearing rose-tinted glasses.

Gucci tapped that craving with a retro-flavored vacation spot back in the 1990s (although the style of clothing apparently evokes the 1970s, as some have noted on social media).

The ad was designed by Creative Director Alessandro Michele, shot by photographer Mark Peckmezian and directed by Akinola Davies Jr. She plays on the track "Only You" by Yazooit and features a cast of characters dressed in Gucci who aimlessly watch their keyboards and tap clocks until their Christmas party begins.

The office, with its huge computers and a photocopier, turns into a dance floor and bar as the Christmas party gets going.
