The DigitalMarketer workforce is grateful for this Thanksgiving Day
Turkey is in the oven and our Black Friday sales are on, which means one thing.
It's time to sit back and think about the past year.
It can be very easy to immerse yourself in the “work work work” mindset and lose sight of the wonderful marketing forest around us. But if there is one thing that will help me step back and reset my perspective, it will be reflecting on the things that I am grateful for.
What would the DM team say if I asked them what they are grateful for?
I asked the "office" to find out. And honestly when I read all of the answers I realized something …
This year was tough numerous different ways. Between the pandemic, murder hornets, zoom calls and everything else that has brought us 2020, it could be really easy to be pessimistic this year. But it's important to try to find something that is grateful for this holiday season because, admittedly, it really does exist much be thankful for.
We owe a lot for being here at DM.
Sophia Lopez, Director for People & Culture:
"I'm grateful to be part of a team that prioritizes friendliness and, when / when things go wrong (because we are human), gives the benefit of the doubt by default." It's hard to find that in the world, so it's special to be part of a company that lives so daily. ”
Maya Hughley, content coordinator::
“This year I am particularly grateful to our DEI Out Loud group for providing a much-needed space for expression, especially now that our work and personal lives are so closely connected. My co-workers were so open and vulnerable and I feel like it brought us closer because we no longer work together in one office. "
Drew Rivera, Social Designer:
“I am grateful for DigitalMarketer and a corporate culture that welcomes the diversity and differences of people. That the door is always open to honest communication and that such compassion is handled. Not to mention the creativity and strengths of everyone who works here. That drives me to do my job better and grow as a professional. What a blessing it was to add my name to an already thriving business! "
Becky Zieber, Content Strategist:
“This year has given me so much that I am grateful, even if it was one of the most difficult years to get through. I am incredibly grateful for my health and the health of my friends and family and I am blessed to have a job here at DM that I can safely work from home. But I was also able to get involved in the growing initiatives and conversations on diversity, equity and inclusivity, and I couldn't be more grateful for this wonderful group of people.
It's been an incredibly challenging year and our in-house DEI group was there every step of the way to have some difficult conversations and better understand each other and the problems that arise around us. I am so grateful that the DEI Group has found a growing priority at DM and I look forward to seeing all of the wonderful opportunities these ideals can be brought to the fore in our industry and in our communities next year! "
Matt Douglas, Product Content Manager:
“That was, to say the least, a challenging year for everyone. And I'm really grateful that so many of my loved ones stayed safe, healthy and kept their jobs. I couldn't find a job in my field during the last recession and I now work in a company that is full of smart, caring, and fun people who challenge me and help me grow.
I am really happy to be able to work from home with whatever is going on and continue my work. I know this is not the case with millions of people across America and the world. I sincerely hope that as we overcome this crisis, on the other hand, we will do better and be stronger for the challenges we have overcome. "
Justina Fenberg, Marketing Coordinator:
"I am so grateful to work for a company and to be among colleagues who value the differences between others as strengths. There is so much beauty in this world and I am reminded of it every day by my colleagues' ideas and experiences I am grateful that we can work together, express our views, question each other's opinions, and do so with an open mind and an open heart. It is not perfect – because neither of us is perfect and never will be. And that's in Okay. It's worth being part of a group that strives to get better, and I'm grateful for that. "
Brandon Burkman, Marketing Manager:
“As for everyone else, 2020 was a tough year for me personally and professionally. I escaped the first round of massive layoffs in March and April, but was eventually informed that I had no job with my previous employer in July. I am incredibly grateful that I found a company like DigitalMarketer that not only seized an opportunity for an unfamiliar remote worker, but also helped me become an even better marketer than I could ever imagine. Every single employee I came in contact with was friendly, courteous and downright great. I can't wait to get more into the corporate culture and really see where working in a company like this can take me, both in my career and in my personal development. "
Sam Clark, Content Manager, eLearning:
“I am grateful for our People and Culture Team. Given our unique situation, this has likely been a nightmare year for Claire and Sophia. However, not a day goes by that I am not thankful for all that they have done to not only bring our health and family interests to the fore, but also to find ways to keep us connected and us to feel like family and to keep the culture alive. Your work this year has been downright herculean and I think everyone in our company can appreciate the hard work and dedication, especially in 2020. "
Jenna Snavely, Production Content Manager:
“I am grateful for the ability to work safely from home while transforming people's lives and businesses. It means so much to focus my time and focus on a company that wholeheartedly believes in its mission and that affects life for the better in many ways. Also – virtual Thanksgivings and cake (a lot of cake). "
Shannon Goodell, Social Media Manager:
"I am grateful to be part of a company that really cares about its people and is ready to always take the necessary steps to make sure we are safe and happy." The People and Culture team led by Sophia has always been great, but this year they really shone in more ways than one. They made our safety our top priority, put together incredible virtual events, sent us goodie bags and much more. Your ingenuity and empathy is truly unmatched.
I am also grateful to be part of a team that is so flexible and can move quickly. We can wear many hats and make the most of whatever comes our way. Despite the incredible challenges, it was a rewarding year. "
Kerry Hall, UX / UI Designer:
"It's been a tough year and without the support of my friends and working for a company that really cares, I wouldn't have made it. I'm grateful for this job and all that I've learned over the past year."
So if I had to choose just one thing to be grateful for this holiday season, it would be …
The wonderful readers and customers we work for every day. They all make it all worth it.
Happy Thanksgiving and best wishes from the entire DM team.
